The Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Unit of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has successfully conducted its 2026 Orientation Program for 400-level students across three colleges. The orientation, held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the College of Agriculture’s 500-Seater Auditorium, was designed to prepare students for their forthcoming industrial training. In his welcome address, the SIWES Coordinator, Engineer Adeniyi O. Oso, emphasized the importance of the program, describing it as both compulsory and integral to students’ academic development. Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Odusanya, the Dean of the College of Engineering Technology, Dr. Yakubu Olawale Bankole, underscored the value of SIWES in bridging theory and practice. “We expect you to excel in your SIWES, as it contributes to your overall result,” he said. “The essence of SIWES is to practice what you have learned in the workplace, so that upon graduation, you can confidently affirm your identity as a bonafide LASUSTECH student.” Officials from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and the Career Services Center also addressed the gathering, offering guidance on industrial placements and highlighting career opportunities available to students. The program featured practical training sessions on logbook documentation, workplace safety, and other essential requirements for successful participation in SIWES.
