Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), in partnership with the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Center (PSSDC), Magodo, hosted a one-day capacity-building workshop on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Themed “Achieving and Sustaining Efficiency on Organizational Goals”, the event took place at the 500-Seat Capacity Auditorium, College of Agriculture. The training was specifically designed for Deans, Professors, Associate Professors, Directors, Heads of Academic Departments, Senior Lecturers, and senior non-teaching staff from Level 13 and above, underscoring the university’s commitment to strengthening leadership and professional excellence across its workforce. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa O. Odusanya, opened the program with a presentation on “The Efficient and Effective University”. In his presentation, he gave scenarios, insights, and evidence related to the topic, making references to best practices in higher education. He addressed both human and material resource constraints and proffered solutions, stressing the importance of strategic planning, innovation, and prudent resource management. The second session was led by Dr. Femi Mosaku Johnson of PSSDC, who focused on Team Building. He emphasized the importance of bringing out the best in people through mutual accountability, and highlighted the values of fairness, accountability, responsibility, and transparency as essential to building trust and collaboration. He further urged participants to think of innovation in the world of artificial intelligence and robotics, stressing that embracing emerging technologies will be critical for universities to remain competitive and efficient in the future. Later, Mr. Femi Solaja of PSSDC delivered his presentation on Achieving Organizational Goals in the University, offering insights into goal-setting, performance measurement, and sustaining efficiency.
