The Lagos State University of Science
and Technology (LASUSTECH) held its
second inaugural lecture, delivered by
Professor Oladipo Ayodeji Dare‑Abel of
the Department of Architecture. In his
presentation titled “Vision, Patterns,
and
Expression:
Trajectory
to
Environmental Sustainability”, Prof.
Dare‑Abel
called
for
increased
investment in creativity within the
technology sector, stressing that true
innovation emerges when artistic imagination and scientific reasoning
converge.
Tracing the roots of technological advancement to what he described as
“timeless creative wisdom,” the Professor explained that creativity has
historically driven design principles in architecture, enabling professionals to
combine beauty with functionality. He highlighted the evolution from manual
design processes to computer‑aided tools and diverse software, noting that
such integration ensures creative elements contribute meaningfully to the
built environment.
Prof. Dare‑Abel further emphasized the importance of collaboration among
professionals, particularly through online platforms that allow talents to
connect across geographical boundaries. He urged policymakers and
academic institutions to remove barriers hindering the fusion of creativity
and technology in Nigeria, pointing out that such synergy is essential for
building experiential societies and advancing organic architecture.
